Cape Malay Sosatie
A curried, apricot-sweet lamb marinade with Cape Malay roots. Unusual, and it makes people stop and ask. Pairs with South African braai spice. Best on lamb and chicken.
Ingredients

- 2 tbsp mild curry powder
- 1/4 cup apricot jam
- 1/4 cup white or cider vinegar
- 1 onion, grated
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp salt
- Dried apricots (for skewering between meat)
Method
1.Bloom the marinade
Warm everything together in a pan for a few minutes to bloom the curry powder, then cool completely.
2.Marinate and skewer
Marinate lamb 8 to 24 hours. Thread onto skewers with dried apricots between the pieces of meat for the classic sosatie presentation.
