St. Louis Sweet and Tangy

Thinner than KC, sweet and sharp, with no smoke flavor added. The sauce does the tang and the pit does the smoke.

Heat Sweetness

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne

Method

  1. 1.Whisk everything together in a saucepan.
  2. 2.Simmer on low 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. 3.Cool before using.

Storage

Refrigerate up to 3 weeks.
