Table Sauce
Lexington Dip
Vinegar · Western North Carolina (Piedmont) · about 2 cups · 10 minutes
Eastern-style vinegar sauce with a touch of ketchup. Lexington folks call it "dip."
Heat Sweetness
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
Method
- 1.Warm everything in a saucepan just until the sugar dissolves. Don't boil it.
- 2.Cool and bottle.
Storage
Refrigerate up to 2 months.
